Zelenskyy, Trump Discuss Efforts to End Russia-Ukraine War

New York, September 23, 2026 :  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with US President Donald Trump on efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, including the prospects for an energy ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.

Speaking to reporters following his meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to accept any format of an energy ceasefire with Russia. He noted, however, that there had been no discussion of Ukraine unilaterally halting its attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Zelenskyy also reaffirmed his readiness to hold a trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump, expressing hope that the United States could find a way to bring Moscow back to the negotiating table after talks broke down earlier this year.
