Onam is a 10-day festival celebrated by Keralites, from South of India regardless of their religious background. Drawing from Hindu tradition, Onam commemorates King Mahabali and Vamana. Onam Sadhya (the meal or feast eaten during Onam) is an important part of the celebrations and is something most Indians look forward to enjoying. It is an elaborate spread consisting of over 24 dishes, which includes many varieties of the sweet dish popularly known as "Payasam". This vegetarian meal is generally served on a banana leaf and is an experience you must try at least once!
