U.S. Launches ‘Project Freedom’ to Safeguard Strait of Hormuz Navigation

The United States has unveiled a major military initiative, “Project Freedom,” directed by President Donald Trump, aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the mission will provide support to merchant vessels seeking safe passage through the waterway, deploying a formidable force of approximately 15,000 service members.

The operation will include guided‑missile destroyers, more than 100 land and sea‑based aircraft, and advanced multi‑domain unmanned platforms, underscoring Washington’s determination to secure maritime routes amid escalating regional tensions.

Officials emphasized that the mission reflects the U.S. commitment to protecting international trade and maintaining stability in one of the world’s most vital shipping corridors.
