The Ministry of Municipality has opened three new parks in Al Wakra and Al Wukair as part of its efforts to expand green spaces, improve public facilities and enhance the quality of life for citizens and residents.
The new parks — Al Mashmoum and Al Khazama in Al Wakra, and Al Arak in Al Wukair — were developed in coordination with the Public Works Authority and according to high international standards.
The projects support the Ministry of Municipality’s 2024–2030 strategy and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in promoting environmental sustainability, increasing green spaces and creating healthier communities.
Officials Attend Park Openings
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Athba, Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs, several directors from the Ministry of Municipality and representatives from the Public Works Authority.
Parks Named to Highlight Qatari Heritage
The names Al Mashmoum, Al Khazama and Al Arak were inspired by Qatar’s local environment. The naming reflects efforts to strengthen Qatari identity, highlight the country’s environmental and cultural heritage and preserve traditional local names for future generations.
Focus on Healthy and Sustainable Communities
Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Al-Karani said the opening of the parks reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to improve public services and expand the development of parks and gardens across Qatar.
He explained that the parks were designed around residents’ needs and include green spaces and facilities for sports, entertainment, recreation and relaxation. The facilities are also intended to encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles and participate in outdoor physical activities.
The projects are part of the Ministry’s wider approach to distributing green and recreational facilities across different areas, allowing residents to access parks and their services close to their homes.
