9. Countryside: A Place to Live, Not to Leave

Big ideas about small-town living are taking centre stage now! The countryside is an exhibition, runs in a geographic arc from Africa through the Middle East and Central Asia all the way to China, and it focuses on a region that’s tied together by shared history, and still where most of the worlds population lives.
Through immersive installations, serious research, and storytelling, the exhibition pushes back on the usual urban narrative, visitors can look closely at how rural everyday life can provide more humane but also ecological answers for todays big global crises. It’s the thing that makes you pause and reconsider what progress looks like in real terms.
Held across two iconic spaces Qatar Preparatory School (QPS) and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), the exhibition creates space for conversation and action between generations, while also imagining bold new horizons for life, that’s beyond the city.
