The Complications Nobody Mentions at the Interview

The social segmentation is real. Qatar's population is mostly expatriate, yet social circles often remain segmented by income level, nationality, and job sector. Luxury-oriented expat groups tied to corporate or diplomatic circles. Large South Asian communities working in construction and services. Western professionals clustered in compounds and certain districts. Social mobility between these groups is limited. Income differences are visible, sometimes stark. 
The summer is genuinely brutal. Summer temperatures still exceed 45°C, and outdoor activities remain largely seasonal due to climate constraints. From May through September, life moves indoors. Malls become the public square. Many expat families leave for the summer entirely  which means paying rent on a home you're not in.
