The Awqaf Ministry released an app for Zakat services
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs' Zakat Affairs Department introduced an app catering to Zakat contributors and beneficiaries. Available in Arabic on Android and iOS, the app will soon feature an English version. The announcement occurred during a press conference at the Ministry's headquarters.
Director Saad Imran Al Kuwari of the Zakat Affairs Department, speaking at the press conference, detailed the app's offerings. It facilitates Zakat calculations for gold, silver, stocks, and more, allowing payments via Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB). Al Kuwari mentioned that the app enables givers to request electronic collection services, managed by the Collection and Zakat Accounts Section.
He also highlighted the app's provision for assistance to eligible individuals, requiring uploaded documents for verification. Al Kuwari noted the opportunity for renewing assistance requests and accessing other supportive services.
Furthermore, the app permits users to request Zakat-related fatwas, directed to specialized legal scholars who respond via text. It includes a repository of Zakat-related fatwas, displays department account numbers in banks, and provides office locations through Google Maps.
Al Kuwari expressed gratitude to those involved in developing the app, emphasizing the department's role in Zakat collection and distribution in Qatar. He underlined the department's efforts to encourage Zakat payments, employing modern media tools like smart device applications to aid the public.
The app by the Zakat Affairs Department elucidates its mission, raising awareness about Zakat as an essential Islamic obligation. It serves as the official body for Zakat collection and distribution in the state, emphasizing Zakat's significance as a form of almsgiving within the Muslim Ummah and a fundamental religious duty in Islam.
