Characterized by stunning architecture and futuristic developments, Qatar is quickly gaining recognition as a one stop destination that gives you a slice of a different city in each of its corners. Here is a list of places that truly encompasses this dichotomy of traditional Arab aesthetics meeting global design elements.

Qanat Quartier: 

Inspired by Venetian architecture, Qanat Quartier is one of the most photographed locations in Doha. Tucked away peacefully in between colorful buildings, interspersed between canals and lush green landscapes, it transports you into a world far away from the Arabian sands and into a Mediterranean dream. 

Katara Cultural Village: 

An iconic landmark conceived as a breeding ground for cultural exchange, Katara Cultural Village is undoubtedly every art lover’s paradise. From amphitheaters reflecting the grandeur of ancient Greece to Mosques that display the intricate detailing of Persian architecture, Katara is a true example of Qatar’s dedication to heritage revival through cutting edge technology. 

Mina District: 

The newest addition to this list is Mina District, a cluster of pastel hued buildings, adorning the coastline of Doha, reminiscent of a little Santorini. For those that have been in Qatar for a long time now, this spectacular transformation of Old Doha Port is yet another exciting addition to the numerous redevelopment projects that have been taking place in Qatar recently. Characterized by 37 short mixed use buildings, Mina district has quickly turned into a popular tourist Marina contributing to attracting local tourists and residents alike. 

Education City: 

A multi university campus, spread over 2500 acres surrounded by lush green landscapes and state of the art educational and cultural facilities, Education City is an underrated tourist spot on this list. Do not be misguided by the academic nature of the destination as each building here is an inspiring experience of its own. The renowned Qatar National Library, Oxygen Park, Ceremonial Court, Qatar National Convention Centre and the award winning Minaretein (Education City Mosque) are just some of the unmissable sights of this stunning location. 

Lusail: 

There is no other location that captures the relentless pursuit of Qatar’s ambitions like Lusail does. Aptly nicknamed as Qatar’s Future City, it is has quickly gained recognition as one of the most technologically advanced and sustainable designed cities in the world. Apart from the breathtaking architecture and captivating experiences, Lusail also offers an array of residential, commercial and business destinations, as well as sports, entertainment and shopping districts. 

Westbay: 

From a pearl fishing village to an urban metropolis, the rapid transformation of Doha can be witnessed through the changes in its skyline. Home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in the country, Westbay is a truly iconic location. Although a predominantly corporate region, there is also a myriad of luxurious and leisure activities to indulge in here, thanks to the presence of popular shopping malls and stylish hotels. 

Souq Waqif: 

Take a stroll through the narrow alleyways and cobblestone streets of this quaint marketplace, to be transported to a world of ancient Arabia. If you want to experience a slice of authentic Qatari culture and hospitality, Souq Waqif is a must visit spot. Although the original building dates back to at least the 20th century,  the Souq was renovated in 2006, after which it gained recognition as one of the most important heritage sites in Doha. Known for its traditional garments, spices, and handicrafts it is a bustling working market that is loved by locals and tourists alike.
