Dome Argus, Antartica
.jpg)
As the highest point on the Antartic Ice Sheet, Dome Argus sits roughly 1,200 kilometers from the coast and has recorded temerpatures as low as -82.5°C. Its extremely thin, dry air makes it a prized location for astronomers, who can observe the stars with minimal interference from atmospheric water vapor.
