Oymyakon, Russia: The Coldest Inhabited Place on Earth
.jpg)
Unlike the polar research stations, Oymyakon is a real village in Siberia where people live year-round despite temperatures that have dropped to around -68°C (-90°F). Cars are often left running so their engines don't freeze solid, and exposed skin or eyelashes can ice over within seconds. It stands as proof that human life can adapt to almost unimaginable cold when it has no other choice.
