Broader Aviation Recovery Underway

The Tehran-Dubai flight resumption is part of a wider recovery in Gulf aviation following the outbreak of regional conflict on February 28, 2026. The conflict had forced unprecedented airspace closures and flight suspensions across the Middle East.

The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority fully reopened the country's airspace on May 2, signaling an initial step toward recovery. Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait have also reopened their airspace after large-scale closures during the peak of tensions.

Major regional carriers have been gradually ramping up operations. Emirates Airlines has restored services to approximately 80 percent of its pre-conflict capacity, while Etihad Airways operates at roughly 75 percent. However, many international carriers continue to exercise caution, with several major airlines maintaining extended suspension periods through the summer months.

"Air travel in the Gulf is ramping up amid the ceasefire between the US and Iran," aviation analysts note, though many international carriers remain cautious about fully restoring operations until the peace negotiations yield more concrete results.
