Challenges and Uncertainties Ahead

Despite the positive step, several challenges remain:

International Carrier Hesitancy: Major global airlines have been slow to restore full services to the region. Lufthansa Group, for example, maintains suspensions on services to Tehran, Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, and other regional cities until October 24. Similarly, Swiss International Air Lines and other carriers continue to avoid Iranian airspace.

Airspace Restrictions: Some international airlines continue to avoid flying through the airspace of Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Israel due to lingering security concerns, requiring longer flight routes that increase operational costs and flight times.

Capacity Constraints: The region's airports are still operating at reduced capacity following the conflict. Emirates and Etihad, despite their recovery progress, remain well below pre-conflict operational levels.

Future Negotiations: The sustainability of the ceasefire depends on successful peace talks. Any breakdown in diplomatic negotiations could result in renewed tensions and flight suspensions.
