HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani was unanimously re-elected as President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) for a new Olympic term 2021- 2024 and HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain was elected as Secretary-General of the QOC.

The elections took place in the General Assembly meeting held on Sunday under the leadership of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani where HE Mohamed Yousef Al Mana was elected First QOC Vice President, HE Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari Second QOC Vice President, HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain QOC Secretary General and Nasser Bin Saleh Al Attiyah as Chair of QOC's Athletes Commission.

During the meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani thanked the sports federations, praising the achievements made by team Qatar athletes this year where they won two gold medals and one bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal in the Paralympic Games, HE Sheikh Joaan also urged the federations to make more efforts in preparation for the upcoming competitions of the Qatari teams.

The meeting began with approving the minutes of the previous general assembly meeting held in February 2020 and discussed the QOC strategy to prepare national teams for 2030 Asian Games.

The general assembly highlighted the QOC achievements in 2020 and 2021 and successful participation in 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games where Qatar claimed two gold medals and 2 bronze medals, in addition to winning the hosting of the 2030 Asian games.

The meeting also discussed the QOC budget for, GCC Games in Kuwait, 2022 Asian Games in China and a number of topics tabled on the agenda.

The new formations of the sports federations came as follows: Hassan Nasser Al Naimi President of the Qatar Golf Association, Ahmed Mohamed Al Sheabi President of the Qatar Handball Association, Khaleel Ibrahim Al Jabir President of the Qatar Swimming Association, Mohamed Essa Al Fadalah President of the Qatar Athletics Federation, Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, Khalid bin Hamad Al Attiyah President of the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saoud Al-Thani President the Qatar Paralympic Committee, Mohamed Yousef Al Mana President of the Qatar Weightlifting Federation, Abdullah Ali Al Ghanim Al Maadeed President of the Qatar Fencing Federation, Badr Muhammad Al Darwish President of the Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation, Khalil Ahmed Al Mohannadi President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Thani President of the Qatar Football Association, Mohammed Saad Al Mughaisib President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Lolwa Hussein Al Marri President of the Qatar Women's Sports Committee, Rashid Majed Al Sulaiti President of the Qatar Sailing and Rowing Federation, Sheikh Khalifa bin Khalid Al-Thani President of the Qatar School Sports Association, Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi, President of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation, Dr. Mohamed Jeham Al Kuwari President the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, Yousef Ali Al Kazim President of the Qatar Boxing and Wrestling Federation, Meshaal Ibrahim Al Nasr President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, Rashid Majed Al Sulaiti President of the Qatar Winter Sports Committee, Yousef Jeham Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Rugby and Hockey Committee, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al-Thani President of the Qatar Cricket Committee, Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al Naimi President of the Qatar University Sports Association, Sheikh Abdullah bin Faleh Al-Thani, President of Qatar Electronic Sports Association and Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah President of the Qatar Athletes Commission.

At the end of the meeting, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani honored the sports personalities who contributed to the development of Olympic movement in the state of Qatar including HE Former QOC First Vice President, Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani, HE Former President of the Qatar Athletics Federation, Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, HE Former President of the Qatar School Sports Association, Rabea Mohamed Al Kaabi, Former President of the Qatar Equestrian Federation, Hamad bin Abdulrahman Al Attiyah, Former President of the Sailing and Rowing Federation, Abdullah Yousef Al Sulaiti, Former President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Former President of the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, Majed Ahmed Al Naimi and Former Secretary General of the Qatar Basketball Association, Ali Saeed Al Malki.
