Sharjah Charity provides over AED23.5 million in medical aid to 799 patients in H1 2026

SHARJAH - Sharjah Charity International (SCI) provided more than AED23.5 million in medical assistance to 799 patients during the first half of 2026 under its medical aid programme, which supports people unable to afford treatment.

Mohammed Saleem Al-Manei, Director of the Assistance Department at SCI, said healthcare is one of the association's key priorities, reflecting its belief that access to medical treatment is a humanitarian necessity.

The largest single share went to patients with kidney failure: the association supported 192 such patients by covering the cost of dialysis sessions, at a total of AED5.7 million. A further AED5.5 million funded treatment for 140 cancer patients.

SCI also allocated AED3.4 million for the treatment of 51 patients suffering from life-threatening illnesses, and AED2.3 million to cover surgical procedures for 86 patients.

The medical assistance programme forms part of SCI's wider humanitarian work. Established in 1989 on the directive of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the association runs relief and development programmes both within the UAE and abroad.
