Shafallah stresses Qatar Prioritizes the Protection of Rights for People with Disabilities

Maryam Saif al-Suwaidi, the executive director of Al Shafallah Centre for Persons with Disabilities, emphasized that safeguarding and advancing the rights of people with disabilities is a key focus for Qatar.

Speaking at the 2024 graduation ceremony of Al Shafallah Centre on Sunday, she highlighted Qatar's unwavering efforts to incorporate the needs and issues of individuals with disabilities into its policies and programs.

Qatar is committed to continuously monitoring and enforcing these policies, according to al-Suwaidi, as supporting and empowering individuals with disabilities is a cornerstone of Qatar National Vision 2030. This commitment underscores the country's broader dedication to protecting human rights, particularly those of people with disabilities.

Al-Suwaidi commended the Ministry of Social Development and Family for its initiatives, guided by the leadership of HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad. These efforts align with the government's focus on ensuring that no one is left behind.

She also congratulated the graduates' parents, expressing pride in the studentsā€™ accomplishments and acknowledging the parentsā€™ vital role in supporting their childrenā€™s rehabilitation and social integration.

Al-Suwaidi praised the graduates' determination and ambition, and noted the unveiling of the "Infinity Love" stainless steel sculpture, presented to Al Shafallah Centre by Qatar Museums. This artwork, inaugurated by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, honors Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for 25 years of dedicated support to Al Shafallah Centreā€™s community.

Al-Suwaidi expressed her gratitude to HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, for facilitating the creation of this tribute.

A graduate representative also spoke, highlighting the intensive training and rehabilitation provided by skilled instructors. He noted that the program equipped the graduates with social and vocational skills, empowering them to integrate into society and contribute to the nation.
