The Ministry of Interior (MOI) recently reiterated through a social media post the obligation of employers and expatriates to complete residence or visit permit procedures promptly upon entry into Qatar. Failure to comply could lead to judicial penalties, including fines of up to QR 10,000.

According to Article 10, Paragraph 1 of Law No. 21 of 2015, employers are required to assist expatriates in contacting authorities within 30 days of their entry to finalize residence or visit permits. The MOI emphasized that expatriates cannot refuse to complete these procedures.

Furthermore, the MOI clarified that offenders may settle the violation by paying QR 10 for each day of delay, capped at QR 6,000, in accordance with the reconciliation amount stipulated by law.
