Qatar economic TV channel
The first economic television channel in Qatar, QBC, has been launched by Qatar Media Corporation. Qatar Economic will be available in 4K, complemented by focused digital platforms for economic news coverage that connects Qatar to the global markets and audiences.
The new media launch reinforces the Qatari government's aspiration for bolstering a national economy and emphasising its expanding achievements in key sectors, according to H. E. Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Media Corporation Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani
He pointed out that the channel will contain developments in Qatari, Gulf and global economic scenes, underlining that investing in media is a cornerstone for sustainable future generation development. He said that the launch is part of a well-defined media strategy by Corporation to increase its bouquet of niche channels.
Issa Abdullah Al Hetmi, acting Director of QBC, said the test transmission for the channel will go on air at 9:00 a.m. on May 5 -- 2026 He said QBC will include extensive economic programming and specialised news bulletins, featuring live reports and extensive background from the major segments such as energy, finance, technology, stock markets and real estate. This will promote its legitimacy among investors, policymakers and the general public.
The channel is a pivotal step for the advancement of business and economic journalism, Hetmi stated. He also said that QBC has assembled a national team of designated experts, established a network of répondants across major international financial hubs and invested in cutting-edge broadcast equipment to present timely, exclusive coverage.
He further stated, "The channel has also established strategic partnerships with some of the leading global economic agencies to bring direct market news updates, therefore enhancing its position in the list of pioneering channels that instil knowledge and pave new ways towards future economic opportunities."
In a Press statement, Qatar Media Corporation expressed its adherence to expanding its specialised media platforms line-up which reflects national priorities and reinforces the professional presence across the media landscape, under a vision responding to today's needs and anticipating the future opportunities.
