Hayya visa ease and diverse attractions boost Qatar's visitor numbers, astonishing tourists

Streamlined visa processes via the Hayya platform, along with an array of tourist destinations, have surged visitor numbers to Qatar to unprecedented levels, leaving visitors amazed by the country's offerings.

Extensive infrastructure advancements before the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, followed by its successful hosting last year, have resulted in visitor arrivals surpassing 3.53 million in the initial 11 months of this year, as reported by Qatar Tourism.

Simplifying visit visa procedures through the Hayya platform has significantly boosted Qatar's tourism sector. Qatar grants visa-free entry to citizens from 101 countries, while others can obtain an e-visa via Hayya. Moreover, the government extended the validity of Hayya visas for World Cup fans until February 24, 2024.

According to visitors interviewed by The Peninsula, many praised the efficient visa application process. Rizwan, a Saudi resident, shared that applying for a visa via Hayya took only a few minutes, receiving it within 24 hours. He commended the smooth immigration process at Hamad International Airport.

Similarly, Muhammad Raheem, a UK national, lauded the straightforward transit visa process, enabling his family to explore friends and places during their 17-hour layover.

Senior journalist Kamran Yousaf from Pakistan, attending the Doha Forum 2023, praised Qatar's recent transformation. He highlighted the modern infrastructure, skyscrapers, efficient transportation, and notably, the country's safety.

As Qatar's winter tourism season commences, public places like Doha Port, the Corniche, The Pearl Island, and Lusail marina promenade have become prominent tourist attractions. Doha Port, especially, draws crowds due to its pleasant weather and the sight of mega cruise ships at the Grand Cruise Terminal.

Events such as Expo 2023 Doha, along with various sports and cultural events in 2023 and 2024, contribute significantly to the growth of the tourism sector. Upcoming major events include the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, Katara International Arabian Horse Festival in February, MotoGP Grand Prix of Qatar 2024, and Qatar Economic Forum 2024.
