Qatar's Nasser Al Attiyah: 3rd in 37th Baja Portalegre 500

Nasser Al Attiyah, the renowned Qatari driver and champion, clinched the 3rd position in the 37th Baja Portalegre 500. His rally journey began with an impressive lead during the demonstration stage and the first day's stages. However, challenges loomed during the rally's second day.

Al Attiyah initially finished in 4th place, but he lodged a protest regarding a time penalty, which was subsequently overturned. This adjustment elevated Al Attiyah to 3rd place, clocking a total time of 4:58:42.8 hours. He trailed the leading Portuguese driver Joao Ferreira by 4 minutes and 26.5 seconds. Ferreira, accompanied by co-driver Filipe Palmeiro, secured the title with a time of 4:54:16.3 hours. Meanwhile, the Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi, alongside co-driver Timo Gottschalk, claimed the 2nd spot, trailing Ferreira by 2 minutes and 21.6 seconds

This competition marked Al Attiyah's debut behind the wheel of his new car, the BRX Prodrive Hunter, under the banner of the Nasser Racing team, following his partnership with Prodrive. His participation in the Baja Portalegre 500 was a crucial step in his preparations for the upcoming Dakar Rally, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in January, serving as the inaugural round of the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship.
