QatarEnergy Highlights Golden Pass LNG Milestones, Reinforces Strategic Partnership with U.S.

QatarEnergy has underscored the significance of the Golden Pass LNG project in Texas, describing it as a cornerstone of the company’s global energy strategy and a symbol of the enduring partnership between Qatar, ExxonMobil, and the United States Government.

Speaking on the project, HE Saad Sherida Al‑Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, emphasized that the initiative strengthens QatarEnergy’s position in the global energy market, drives economic growth, and contributes directly to U.S. energy objectives. He expressed appreciation to the U.S. Government, the Texas Legislature, ExxonMobil, and all employees and contractors for their role in advancing the project.

The Golden Pass LNG facility, jointly owned by QatarEnergy (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%), will produce up to 18 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG once its three trains are fully operational. Train 1 has already commenced production, with its first shipment exported aboard QatarEnergy’s vessel Al‑Qaiyyah in April 2026. The final investment decision for the project was announced in February 2019.

During a recent visit, U.S. Secretary Chris Wright toured the site, highlighting LNG’s growing role in driving global economic growth and energy security. HE Al‑Kaabi described the visit as a reflection of the decades‑long strategic energy partnership between Qatar and the United States.

The project, located near the Gulf Coast, is expected to play a pivotal role in reinforcing global energy security, expanding LNG supply, and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
