Shabab Al Ahli clinched the inaugural Qatar-UAE Super Cup last year in Dubai, having defeated Al Duhail 2-1.

Today's game marked the opening of this year’s Super Cup edition, which features eight teams - four from either countries, up from the inaugural format of four in 2023.

Amir Cup runners-up Qatar SC will face UAE President’s Cup runners-up Al Nasr for the Super Cup on January 17, at the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai.

The clash for the Super Shield will see Qatar league title holders Al Sadd taking on UAE League champions Al Wasl, on January 18, at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

Qatar Cup 2024 champions Al Wakrah will play the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup champions Al Wahda, for the Challenge Cup on January 19, at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
