During the Ministry's weekly briefing, Dr. Al Ansari stated that Qatarās decision to pause its mediation role stemmed from a lack of commitment from the involved parties, not from a shift in its diplomatic stance.
He stressed that Qatar remains ready to resume negotiations when favorable conditions arise, emphasizing the nationās unwavering focus on humanitarian efforts in Gaza. āQatar has been committed since day one to de-escalate tensions, alleviate Palestinian suffering, and facilitate the return of prisoners and hostages,ā Dr. Al Ansari said. He underscored Qatarās current priority of intensifying humanitarian aid delivery in collaboration with Egypt and other Arab nations.
Commitment to De-escalation and Humanitarian Aid
Dr. Al Ansari highlighted Qatarās long-standing efforts to end the conflict and deliver aid, reiterating that these objectives remain non-negotiable. He welcomed decisions by some European countries to halt arms sales to Israel, emphasizing Qatarās support for measures that de-escalate conflicts.
Qatarās Stance on Global Crises
On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the spokesperson reiterated Qatar's consistent advocacy for Ukraineās sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of peaceful resolutions. He pointed to Qatarās initiatives in reuniting war-affected children and promoting dialogue as part of its humanitarian diplomacy.
Ministry Updates on Regional Engagements
Dr. Al Ansari announced that HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, will lead Qatarās delegation to the upcoming GCC Ministerial Preparatory Meeting. He also reviewed recent diplomatic engagements, including high-level meetings in Jordan and Kuwait and discussions on the Gaza crisis with Spain's State Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
Humanitarian Contributions
Qatarās commitment to global humanitarian aid was also emphasized, with updates on recent deliveries to Afghanistan and Lebanon. A total of 183 tons of aid has been sent to Afghanistan, while Lebanon has received 320 tons via Qatarās air bridge operations. Qatar strongly condemned the bombing of a UNRWA school in Gaza, calling on the international community to take urgent action.
