Qatar SC Claims Eighth Amir Cup Table Tennis Title After Thrilling Final

Qatar SC secured their eighth Amir Cup Table Tennis title (2024-25) after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Al Arabi SC in the final held at Al Arabi Club Hall. Along with the prestigious trophy, Qatar SC received a cash prize of QR 100,000, while runners-up Al Arabi earned QR 60,000.

Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA), President of the Arab and Asian Federations, and First Vice-President of the International Table Tennis Federation, presented the awards to the winners and runners-up.

The final was an intense battle, with Qatar SC’s Omar Assar setting the tone by securing a straight-games victory over Al Arabi’s Rawad Al Nasser. Mohamed Abdel Wahab extended Qatar SC’s lead with a 3-1 win against Al Arabi’s Croatian professional Tomas Bucar.

Al Arabi fought back as Jermaine Schmidt edged out Ahmed Eid in a close 3-2 match. However, Qatar SC responded swiftly, with Assar defeating Bucar 3-1 to bring his team one step closer to victory. The decisive moment came when Mohamed Abdel Wahab dominated Rawad Al Nasser in straight games, sealing Qatar SC’s eighth Amir Cup title.

This triumph adds to Qatar SC’s previous wins in the 2001-02, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 seasons.

Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi congratulated Qatar SC, its board of directors, and fans on their victory after a marathon final. Meanwhile, QTTA Secretary General Mohammed Abdullah Saleh praised both teams, emphasizing that Qatar SC deserved the title, while Al Arabi showcased remarkable performances throughout the tournament.
