Ballistic Missiles

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence said on its official account that the air defence systems managed to intercept and down at least a ballistic missile targeting Qatari territory early Sunday morning. Residents in Doha heard explosions and the national emergency alert system went off moments beforehand.

Three People Injured

The Ministry of Interior affirmed that three —including a minor— were wounded from debris falling from the interception operations of missiles. The injured people were shifted to the hospital and are under treatment.

Civil Defence teams and security personnel rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations and manage public safety, officials said.

Emergency Alerts Issued

Qatar implemented its emergency alert system issuing two public messages, at around 5:36am and 6:47am, to remind residents to take precautions.
Officials stressed that the national alert system is triggered only if other critical safety steps need to be taken.

Public Urged to Follow Official Information

The Ministry of Interior also urged residents to only trust official governmental channels for any information and warned against the dissemination of misinformation or unverified content. It said the dissemination of false information could result in enforcement action.

IRGC Claims Responsibility

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran took credit for the attack, which it said was focusing on Al Udeid Air Base and claimed damage to military facilities. But Qatar's Ministry of Defence has made no such statements, hitting back against those claims and insisting that its air defence systems intercepted hundreds of malicious missiles aimed at populated areas.

Authorities Continue Monitoring the Situation

As the situation is developing, Qatari authorities are monitoring developments closely and call on all to remain calm, follow official guidance and cooperate with emergency services.
