Geneva, September 08, 2026 : The State of Qatar has reiterated its strong condemnation of Iranian attacks on several regional countries, describing them as "unjustified" and warning that attempts to drag these nations into existing conflicts risk further escalation and undermine diplomatic efforts to restore stability.

Qatar Calls for Immediate End to Military Actions

Speaking Tuesday at the general debate with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights at the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, HE Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office in Geneva, called for an immediate cessation of military actions and attacks. She stressed the need to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, return to diplomacy and dialogue, and uphold understandings already reached.

Palestinian Cause: Settlement Activity, Gaza Attacks Condemned

On the Palestinian issue, Al Muftah condemned the continuation of Israeli settlement activity, particularly the "E1" plan, alongside ongoing attacks on Gaza and the rejection of peace efforts aimed at ending the conflict there. She rejected Israeli plans for the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, settler violence, attacks targeting UNRWA, and continued attacks on Lebanon, calling for accountability and a lasting, just peace.

Syria: Qatar Welcomes New Phase, Urges Continued Support

On Syria, Al Muftah welcomed the country's new phase, which she said allows for building a future guaranteeing the rights of Syrians, including the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into state military institutions. She praised ongoing efforts toward transitional justice and addressing the issue of missing persons, urging the international community to maintain political, economic, and humanitarian support, lift all sanctions, and take a firm stance against Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.

Sudan: RSF Violations in El Obeid Condemned

On Sudan, Al Muftah strongly condemned violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in and around the city of El Obeid, including attacks on civilian and vital infrastructure. She called for accountability for those responsible and strict compliance with international humanitarian law, while rejecting any external interference in Sudan's internal affairs that would prolong the conflict.
