Qatar Real Estate Forum 2026

The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat) has announced key updates for the fourth edition of the Qatar Real Estate Forum 2026, which will be held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The forum is scheduled to take place from October 27 to 29, 2026, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC). It is being organised in partnership between Aqarat and Informa Tharawat.

Focus on the Future of Qatar's Real Estate Sector

The fourth edition comes as Qatar's real estate sector continues to evolve beyond traditional property development, sales and purchases.

The sector is increasingly being viewed as an important part of investment, wealth management and the wider capital ecosystem. The forum will examine how the market can adapt to changing economic, technological and regulatory conditions.

Key Themes to Be Discussed

The forum's programme will cover several emerging areas shaping the real estate industry, including:

  • Real estate financing and investment returns

  • Portfolio diversification

  • Tokenisation of real estate assets

  • Economic and technological developments

  • Sustainability

  • Geopolitical and economic changes

  • Regulatory developments and market trends

Government leaders, developers, investors, policymakers and senior decision-makers are expected to participate in discussions on emerging opportunities and the future direction of the sector.

Qatar Records QAR 10.69 Billion in Real Estate Transactions

Qatar's real estate market recorded transactions worth QAR 10.69 billion, approximately USD 2.9 billion, during the first half of 2026, according to the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice.

Aqarat said the forum aims to keep pace with the sector's transformation, strengthen cooperation between stakeholders and highlight investment opportunities.

Real Estate Tokenisation Gains Attention

The tokenisation of real estate assets is expected to be one of the key topics at this year's forum.

Global capital is increasingly being directed towards major portfolio restructuring amid rapid technological change and the search for assets offering sustainable returns. Areas attracting international investment include artificial intelligence, tokenised real-world assets, energy technology and regional markets.

On August 26, 2026, Qatar's Council of Ministers approved a draft law regulating real estate tokenisation and the trading of real estate tokens, along with its draft executive regulations.

Forum to Coincide With Cityscape Qatar

The Qatar Real Estate Forum is being held in strategic partnership with Cityscape Qatar and will coincide with the event.

The partnership is intended to support Qatar's real estate investment environment, improve governance and transparency, and create greater opportunities for connecting developers with regional and international investors.

Wouter Molman, Chief Commercial Officer at Informa Tharawat, said the collaboration could help translate regulatory reforms into market activity while connecting Qatari developers with GCC and international investors.

Industry Leaders Support the Forum

Aqarat President H.E. Mohammed bin Hassan Al Malki highlighted the importance of discussions around the sector's ability to adapt to rapid geopolitical and economic developments.

Meanwhile, H.E. Sheikh Hamad bin Talal Al Thani, CEO of Qatari Diar, described the sponsorship as an extension of the company's role in shaping Qatar's real estate sector and supporting cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Al-Tayeb, CEO of Barwa Real Estate Group, said continued sponsorship reflects the group's commitment to dialogue, competitiveness and exploring new investment and development opportunities.

Real Estate Sector's Role in Qatar's Economy

According to the Qatar Central Bank Financial Stability Review, the real estate sector accounted for 6.1% of Qatar's GDP in December 2025.

Real estate credit represented 20% of total domestic credit extended to the private sector by Qatar's banking system at the end of December 2025.

New Reforms and Digital Real Estate Platform

Qatar introduced several laws and initiatives in 2025 aimed at further developing the real estate sector.

GCC citizens were permitted to own residential properties in designated areas for personal and family use, while regulations covering the purchase, use and disposal of real estate were strengthened and refined.

Aqarat also launched the Qatar Real Estate Platform, including a sector dashboard designed to improve transparency and provide easier access to market information.

Rental Market Records Strong Growth

Qatar's rental market also recorded significant growth in 2025.

The total number of lease contracts increased by 30.6% year-on-year, while their combined value rose by 27.8%. Commercial lease contracts increased by 43.6%, while residential contracts grew by 25.3%.

The number of vacant units also declined by 20%, highlighting continued activity across Qatar's rental market.
