Qatar PM and Oman Foreign Minister Discuss Strait of Hormuz Framework and Bilateral Ties

Qatar and Oman have reaffirmed their strong bilateral ties following a phone conversation between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi on Monday.

The two senior diplomats used the call to discuss ways of deepening and expanding cooperation between the two Gulf nations across a range of areas, reflecting the warm and enduring relationship that Qatar and Oman have long maintained.

The conversation also touched on the latest regional developments, with particular focus on ongoing discussions between Oman and Iran regarding a phased framework aimed at easing tensions in one of the world's most strategically critical waterways. The proposed framework includes the establishment of a temporary shared navigation route through the Strait of Hormuz and a joint project to demine the Strait  a development that carries significant implications for global shipping, energy markets and regional security.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar's deep appreciation for Oman's diplomatic efforts in pursuing de-escalation and reinforcing stability across the region, reaffirming Qatar's full support for the Sultanate's constructive and measured approach to one of the region's most pressing challenges.
