Qatar Partners with UN Road Safety Fund

The State of Qatar has signed a Unified Administrative Agreement with the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) to address and reduce road traffic deaths and injuries both domestically and globally.

By joining the UNRSF, Qatar becomes part of a global partnership aimed at mitigating road traffic fatalities and injuries. This partnership integrates Qatar into a worldwide network working to address significant gaps in national road safety systems. The signing ceremony featured HE Dr. Hind bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, representing the Ministry of Transport, and Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, representing the UNRSF.

At the ceremony, Qatar announced a financial contribution of $450,000 to the UNRSF, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing road safety.

HE Executive Secretary Molcean noted that Qatar's generous donation would support the UNRSF's mission to bolster government efforts to meet global road safety targets.

HE Jean Todt, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety, also welcomed Qatar's financial support for the fund.

HE Dr. Hind bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah expressed pride in Qatar's investment in global road safety targets through the UNRSF, stating, "By supporting the UNRSF, we are investing in a safer future for all road users in the State of Qatar and around the world."
