The State of Qatar took part in the 41st Meeting of the Directors General of Passports of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States, held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening regional cooperation on border management and passport services.

Qatari delegation led by Passport Chief

Qatar’s delegation was headed by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Ateeq Al Dosari, Director General of Passports at the Ministry of Interior, alongside representatives from the GCC member states.

Focus on improving passport services

The meeting reviewed a range of issues aimed at enhancing cooperation among GCC countries, with discussions focusing on:

  • Developing passport operations and procedures.
  • Improving the quality and efficiency of passport-related services.
  • Strengthening coordination and integration among GCC member states.
  • Reviewing proposals to support smoother movement and enhanced cooperation across the region.

The participants concluded the meeting by adopting a number of recommendations to advance collaboration in passport administration and related services.

Strengthening regional cooperation

The annual gathering serves as an important platform for GCC countries to exchange expertise, coordinate policies and explore initiatives that improve border management and public services.

Qatar’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to working closely with fellow GCC members to modernise passport services, enhance operational efficiency and support regional integration through stronger institutional cooperation.
