Qatar National Library recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to promote knowledge and learning through cultural exchanges, events and community development in Qatar.

The MoU outlines cooperation between the two institutions in various areas, including the exchange of educational, research and publication materials, as well as knowledge and cultural exchange programs and event participation. The Library and HMC will further work on mutual areas of common interest, including scientific, technical and cultural cooperation. The MoU was signed between Tan Huism, Executive Director at Qatar National Library and Nasser Al Naimi, HMC’s
Deputy Chief Quality Officer for the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) and Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute.

The signing ceremony was attended by Ali Abdullah Al Khater, Chief Communication Officer, Dr. Hanadi Khamis Al Hamad, Medical Director at Rumailah Hospital & QRI Chairperson of Geriatrics and Long Term Care Department and Nayef Al Shamari, Executive Director of the Media Department at HMC. In addition, Lolwa Al-Naemi, Director of Strategic Planning and Projects and Abeer Saad Al Kuwari, Director of Research and Learning Services at Qatar National Library also attended.

On the occasion, Tan said, “We are very pleased to sign this MoU, which will strengthen the cooperation between the Library and HMC. The Library seeks partnerships and collaborations which enhance what we offer to our community, and this collaboration will provide our members with additional educational materials and programs.”

“The agreement is an example of the Library’s contribution to the Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims to establish a knowledge-based economy and make lasting contributions to the holistic development of the community in Qatar,” she added.

Al Naimi added, “The partnership with QNL reinforces HMC’s holistic approach to delivering person-centered care by giving patients, families and staff a form of recreation to reduce stress while inside the hospital through its Patient Library program initiated by the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement.”

“Our long-term plan is to expand the number of libraries we have across all HMC facilities. Currently, the Patient Library is available at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Ambulatory Care Center, and Enaya Specialized Care Center. We thank Qatar National Library for their support of this aim and we look forward to helping enrich the lives of our patients, families, and staff,” he added.

The Library continues to explore regional and international collaborations to continue its role in sharing the cultural legacy of the Arab world and to provide people with a wide variety of informative and educational content.

HMC is the main provider of secondary and tertiary healthcare in Qatar and one of the leading hospital providers in the Middle East. HMC is leading the development of the region’s first academic health system – combining innovative research, top-class education and excellent clinical care – and is committed to building a legacy of healthcare expertise in Qatar.
