Qatar Ministry of Culture Concludes Participation in Moscow International Book Fair

Moscow: Qatar’s Ministry of Culture has concluded its participation in the Moscow International Book Fair, as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s cultural presence internationally and introduce Qatari intellectual and literary production to a wider audience. 

The participation highlighted Qatar’s role as a centre for creativity, cultural exchange and civilisational diversity, while also creating new opportunities for cooperation between Qatari and international publishers. 

Qatar Pavilion Attracts Strong Visitor Interest

Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Director of the Doha International Book Fair, said the Ministry of Culture’s pavilion attracted large numbers of visitors during the exhibition.

Visitors showed particular interest in the interactive cultural experiences offered at the pavilion, including digital screens presenting different aspects of Qatari culture. 

A dedicated Arabic calligraphy station was also among the attractions, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the beauty of traditional Arabic calligraphy and have their names written in Arabic script. 

New Opportunities for Qatari Publishers

Al Buainain said Qatar’s participation also gave local publishing houses an important platform to establish new partnerships with Russian publishers.

Discussions focused particularly on opportunities for translating books between Arabic and Russian, helping literary and intellectual works reach new audiences in both regions. 

The event also facilitated business meetings between Qatari publishers and Russian and international publishing houses to explore cooperation in areas including publishing and intellectual property rights. 

Supporting Qatar’s Publishing Industry

The Ministry of Culture’s participation forms part of its broader efforts to support Qatari publishing houses and strengthen their presence at major international cultural events.

Through participation in global book fairs, the ministry aims to open new markets for Qatari publications, develop the local publishing sector and strengthen cultural exchange between Qatar and countries around the world. 

The Moscow International Book Fair provided another opportunity for Qatar to showcase its cultural identity while building international partnerships in publishing, translation and intellectual exchange.
