European Le Mans Series
Team Qatar has written history by capturing its first pole position in the Le Mans series for Europe. It is also the first time that a Qatari team and driver have ever won the Pole Position.
First: Historical moment in International Le Mans Series (Pole Position)
Under intense competition from international premier teams, the result was due to an astonishingly narrow margin of only 0.063sec—a reflection of the Pollux team's good preparation for this first race.
Second: Race result (Final Standing)
In an exciting incident filled competitive race, Team Qatar exhibited very good speed and was in control for most of the race while competing against rivals at an elite level. But as Haikyu In Al moved to overtake in the final stages of the lap, the battle fell off, greatly intensifying. As a result axing off for at least two seconds to go Three cars were involved.
Third: Qatari driver record
Abdullah Al Khleifi kept up the terrific form he had shown all weekend right through the first round and won the GT3 category award for “Best Driver". This achievement marks a significant milestone in his career and is further evidence of how the Qatari scene is now starting to establish itself on the world endurance racing stage.
