H.E. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al-Thani has launched the National Volunteer Platform (www.volunteer.gov.qa) on behalf of H.E. volunteer. Listed on the Government of Qatar (gov.qa) Registry page on Sunday, 10 May 2026.

The platform was initiated with the slogan of "A Lasting Impact" to help enhance the sustainability and impact of social goodwill efforts on a national level.

Qatar National Volunteer Platform a unified digital platform to combine the efforts of all local entities and organize & assemble volunteer work in the State of Qatar as one integrated national platform. It increases impact and improves the efficiency of both volunteers and organizations by creating a trustful digital platform in connecting volunteers with organizations/volunteers opportunities.

This platform is launched in accordance with the directives of MSDF aimed at implementing its strategic priorities for 2025-2030, which focuses on enhancing community engagement and empowering individuals while regulating volunteering work to achieve a sustainable developmental impact.

This is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, in particular Fourth National Outcome of building a solidified, responsible society.

The Platform wishes to review and issue licenses for organizations giving volunteer opportunities as well as make easy access for all classes of society. It records volunteer hours, offers a national database to help in planning and measuring impact, and it reinforces governance and management of the national volunteer sector.

You also have an extensive available services such as volunteer registration, management and broadcasting of volunteering opportunities, accredited certificate issuance, access to training and development programs of civil society organizations, mutual evaluation system as well as reports and statistics for decision makers.

In her speech at the launch ceremony, HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi reiterated that volunteer work in the State of Qatar is not just a moral responsibility but rather an integral part of our national identity and that it plays an important role in strengthening the values of solidarity, cooperation, social ties and social stability.

H. E. added that this system constitutes a qualitative shift in the life of the volunteer work path from more than 2000 initiatives to an integrated national framework of organization, motivation, empowerment, digitalization and capacity building.

"It would not have been possible without sustained collaboration between a number of institutions, as well as the national coordination between government actors, civil society and the private sector," she said.

She stated that all the partners had played a role in shaping policy, development of guidelines and benchmarks for regulatory frameworks and said it was this partnership that had proved unified action was the best way to address challenges and realise bold national priorities.

She added that the National Platform for Volunteer Work is formed by the joint efforts of all agencies with the aim to meet the aspirations of society in general.

H.E. pointed out that launching of the platform is just the beginning to a new phase of systematic institutional work needing continued partnerships with more integrated roles.

And this will only be through continued cooperation as the real guarantee for a sustainable positive impact that will affect people's life and enhance social cohesion, promote values of belonging and responsibility, achieve developmental results making volunteer work as an established national practice contributing to building a more cohesive and prosperous society.

On his end, Director of the Community Development Department at MSDF Nasser Al Mughaisib, showed a visual representation which were lines to the development pillars of National Platform for Volunteer Work.

He said it is rooted in a legacy of issues and it was a case of work from studies to partners meetings that produced the complete model designed for what is now necessary.

Al Mughaisib said these efforts have gone into creating an integrated and regulated environment for volunteering activities anchored in law and procedures.

This is then used as the tool with which the platform implements its plan, bringing activities together instead of duplicate opportunities and experiences, enhancing the connection between people in order that they can work towards common goals such as terrorists or extremists attacks.

Subsequently, the next phase of this initiative will continue to strengthen a sustainable volunteer system, deepen community engagement and create sustained impact as per state vision mission for youth development through volunteering.

The Ministry of Social Development and Family continues its important role in organizing volunteer work, activating it, and creating an integrated institutional environment supporting community innovation by launching the National Volunteer Platform as a sustainable model for promoting the participation of individuals and institutions.

This will help widen the area of community service and develop a culture of volunteering as a sustainable national value in the State of Qatar.
