Qatar Launches Lake Lucerne Summit, Mediates US–Iran Dialogue with Regional Partners

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar has announced the successful launch of the Lake Lucerne Summit, a new diplomatic initiative aimed at advancing dialogue between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The summit, unveiled on June 21, 2026, brings together representatives from both nations alongside mediating states Qatar and Pakistan, with the objective of achieving a comprehensive and lasting agreement.

The initiative includes the formation of a high‑level committee, supported by technical and expert working groups, as well as follow‑up mechanisms to ensure progress on outstanding issues. According to Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the summit reflects Qatar’s unwavering commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and regional stability. He emphasized that the process is designed to foster trust, reduce tensions, and open new avenues for cooperation.

The statement also acknowledged the contributions of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, whose support has been instrumental in advancing negotiations. Officials noted that the collective involvement of regional and international partners underscores the importance of multilateral diplomacy in addressing complex challenges.

Qatar reaffirmed its role as a mediator, highlighting its dedication to facilitating constructive engagement between Washington and Tehran. The summit builds on earlier efforts to establish a memorandum of understanding, laying the groundwork for sustainable solutions through dialogue and peaceful means.
