Qatar Kite Festival 2026

Kite Festival

The Qatar Kite Festival 2026 will bring color, joy, and togetherness to Doha’s Old Port from January 15 to 24, turning the winter skies into a canvas of art and celebration. Families, friends, and visitors will gather along the waterfront to watch kites of every shape and hue dance with the wind, creating moments of laughter, bonding, and shared happiness. Children will delight in tugging at strings, parents will join in the fun, and friendships will be strengthened in this open-air spectacle that blends tradition with modern entertainment.

Over 20 professional kite teams from around the world will showcase breathtaking aerial displays, while workshops and kids' activities will allow families to craft their own kites and receive free ones to join the flying. Cultural performances, music, and storytelling will highlight Qatar’s traditions, while food experiences will bring together local and international flavors. Day-and-night flying shows, with illuminated kites lighting up the evening sky, will add a magical touch to the waterfront atmosphere. With free entry to most areas and ticketed workshops for those eager to learn, the festival ensures accessibility and depth for all.

The story of kites stretches back more than 2,000 years to ancient China, where they were used for ceremonies, military signalling, and scientific experiments. Over time, kites became symbols of joy and creativity, spreading across Asia and beyond. Festivals such as India’s Uttaryan celebrate kites as markers of harvest and renewal, while in Japan and Korea, they carry cultural symbolism of luck and prosperity. Today, kite festivals worldwide embody the universal spirit of play, artistry, and community.

By hosting this vibrant event, Qatar underscores its commitment to community wellbeing, inclusivity, and cultural exchange. The Old Doha Port, with its maritime heritage and modern charm, provides the perfect backdrop for families to gather, children to explore, and friendships to flourish. The festival reflects Qatar’s vision of blending tradition with innovation, offering residents and visitors alike a chance to celebrate together under the sky.

The Qatar Kite Festival 2026 is more than a seasonal highlight - it is a reminder that joy is best shared. Families will bond over kite strings, children will discover the thrill of flight, and friendships will be strengthened in the open air. As kites rise above Doha’s waterfront, they carry with them stories of unity, culture, and happiness. This winter, let your spirit soar, because in Qatar, every kite is a thread weaving us closer together.
