The State of Qatar participated in the fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5), held in Busan, the Republic of Korea, from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1. The event aimed to develop a binding legal instrument to end plastic pollution.
Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs at the Ministry Abdulhadi Nasser Al Marri led the State of Qatar's delegation at the meeting.
In preparation for this significant round of negotiations on plastic pollution, the State of Qatar worked to formulate a unified Gulf position in coordination with the GCC General Secretariat, which was adopted by all GCC countries.
The State of Qatar also presented a unified position for the Arab countries, in line with the Gulf position, and was adopted by the Arab League at the 35th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs, held in Jeddah in October 2024.
