He added that Qatar’s participation in the Asian Beach Games is part of QOC’s keenness and commitment to actively participate in various continental sporting events and to enhance the country sporting presence at the Asian level.
He also pointed out that the Qatari teams have finalized their preparations for the Games after conducting all-round training courses under the supervision of sports federations and in coordination with QOC, indicating at the same time that aiming to achieve strong performance and compete for medals was on top of other sports (beach handball — beach volleyball) besides individual disciplines.
While noting that the presence of elite athletes from different parts of Asia would naturally push for a high level of technical performance at the Games, the Deputy Head of Administrative Delegation explained that this, coupled with heavy challenge facing Qatari players, necessitates their readiness in terms of achieving those advanced standards.
The main reason to participate is not merely about results, but rather to get the most out of benefits that can only be done when athletes are competing with different schools and obtaining experience in a multi-sport environment.
He said: “This participation is a tributary to the important step in the development pathway of Qatari athletes, who are gearing up for continental and international events.”
Al Abdulla also reviewed Qatar’s participation as of the beginning in Bali 2008, Muscat 2010 and Haiyang 2012, where Qatar had his first gold medal (in handball) at these games.
Qatar subsequently featured 12 medals in Phuket 2014 (2 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze) and seven medals in Da Nang 2016 (5 golds, one silver and one bronze), affirming the nation’s enduring presence at the Games.
Team Qatar Media Delegation Head Mr. Mohammed Al-Zaidan announced the launch of a promotional campaign accompanying Team Qatar’s participation in Asian Beach Games – Sanya 2026.
He noted that the campaign is part of wider efforts to support the athletes of the Qatari delegation and empower them media-wise during the period of competition. He stated that one of the targets of the campaign is to inspire fans and athletes, as well as showcase Qatari athletes’ successes.
Al-Zaidan added that the campaign will focus on highlights of Qatar’s key tourist attractions and including its beautiful beaches, under the slogan “From the Shores of Doha to the Shores of Sanya,” saying it is a manifestation of correlation between sport and tourism, which contributes in promoting Qatar’s coastal destinations. They are also Katara Beach, the Old Doha Port, Lusail Marina, the Doha Corniche, The Pearl Island and the 974 Beach.
He also highlighted that the campaign will provide rich digital content capturing the atmosphere of matches and stimulating interaction — within an integrated media vision aimed at delivering a positive image of Qatari sport in all continental and international arenas, through leveraging Committee platforms as well as various media outlets across the country.
