DOHA — Qatar Charity (QC) has completed preparations to implement 4,213 humanitarian and development projects across nine countries in Asia and Africa, as the organisation marks World Humanitarian Day 2026.
The planned projects cover water and sanitation, education, culture, social housing and economic empowerment. Qatar Charity has prepared project sites, completed permits and coordinated with suppliers so implementation can begin quickly once funding becomes available.
Advance Preparations Aim to Speed Up Humanitarian Response
Qatar Charity said its advance-preparedness approach is designed to reduce the time between securing funding and starting work on the ground. By completing key logistical and administrative steps in advance, the organisation aims to deliver essential services to communities affected by crises more efficiently.
More Than Five Million Benefited in Gaza
In the Gaza Strip, more than five million people benefited from Qatar Charity interventions between 2023 and 2025 across food, healthcare, water, education and shelter.
During 2026, the organisation continued providing food assistance amid ongoing humanitarian needs, including the distribution of 198,000 ready-to-eat meals to patients, healthcare-facility workers and displaced people.
Over One Million People Reached in Sudan
Qatar Charity's work in Sudan and neighbouring countries has reached more than one million people through 74 projects and interventions. The assistance has included relief, healthcare, food and other essential needs as communities continue to face the consequences of the conflict.
Syria Programmes Exceeded QAR 163 Million in 2025
In Syria, Qatar Charity's interventions during 2025 exceeded QAR 163 million and benefited more than two million people. Projects covered healthcare, education, food, shelter, water, livelihoods and economic empowerment.
In 2026, the organisation also began implementing more than 830 specialised surgical procedures in Syria. These include operations for children with congenital heart defects, open-heart surgery, cochlear implantation and cataract-removal procedures.
Support Extends Across Crisis-Affected Countries
Qatar Charity continues to operate in countries and territories facing humanitarian crises or requiring sustained assistance, including Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Syria and Palestine. Its interventions range from food, water, shelter and healthcare to livelihood support and economic empowerment.
World Humanitarian Day Highlights Protection and Preparedness
World Humanitarian Day is observed annually on August 19. The 2026 occasion highlights the importance of humanitarian work, the protection of humanitarian workers and the need to ensure aid reaches people affected by crises and disasters.
Qatar Charity's preparedness model reflects a broader effort to adapt humanitarian response mechanisms to rapidly changing and prolonged emergencies. Having plans, permits and operational arrangements ready can allow projects to move more quickly when resources become available.
