Yesterday, the Minister of Labor, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri, met with the Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, and members of the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber at the QC Headquarters.
This meeting is being held because the Ministry of Labour (MoL) has a policy that says it needs to talk to representatives of employers and tell them about the latest changes to laws, rules, and regulations that affect the local workplace.
They looked at the problems this sector faces, especially those that have to do with work and employees. They also looked at ways to work with the private sector and help and grow them. During the meeting, people voluntarily discussed a motion to approve an insurance policy for Qatari domestic workers. This would require insurance companies and recruitment offices to work together. The Ministry of Labor and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce worked on this project. The motion, which will be passed, comes after a thorough look at market data to help all parties, especially the employer, reach their goals. The research goal was to help everyone, including the employer, reach their goals.
According to the motion, the insurance policy covers several situations, such as if the worker refuses to work, if the worker runs away from work, gets hurt on the job, or dies. The policy also covers the value of the travel ticket that can be claimed in these situations. The motion also says that the insurance policy will pay the employer based on the damage done.
Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri and Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani were told about the services the MoL office at the Chamber's headquarters offers to business owners and company managers to speed up transactions and make things easier. This was done so business owners and managers could finish their transactions faster.
The Ministry of Labor (MoL) stressed how important it is to meet with the private sector to solve problems and get around obstacles to improve the work environment. The ministry also emphasized that it works with the parties in the labor market to find a balance.
The Minister said that the Ministry of Labour was eager to keep working with the Qatar Chamber on labor issues and to find solutions to any problems that the private sector might have with the Ministry of Labour's services.
He said that over the past few years, the Ministry of the Lands had worked to develop e-services to improve the digital transformation of all the services it offers to the public. This has led to paperless services, which make it easier for electronic services to be delivered quickly and correctly.
Sheikh Khalifa, for his part, thanked the Minister of Labour for all the work he had done to open the MoL office at the Chamber's headquarters. He said that this office would be essential for getting requests from business owners, thinking about them, and reviewing them as quickly as possible.
