The Cabinet Meeting

In a meeting held on Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024, the Cabinet approved a proposal from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to allow children to enroll in kindergarten classes from the age of three instead of four. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, issued the following statement:

The Cabinet addressed the items on its agenda as follows:

1. The Cabinet was informed of the Shura Council's approval of a draft law concerning the handling of regulated products.

2. Approval was granted for a draft law amending certain provisions of Law No. 25 of 2015 related to civil defense, and the draft was referred to the Shura Council.

3. A draft decision by the Minister of Interior identifying the facilities where QatarEnergy will implement provisions of Law No. 25 of 2015 on civil defense was approved.

4. Approval was given for a draft decision by the Minister of State for Energy Affairs regarding the terms and specifications of security and safety systems, rules for electrical and water installations, and necessary measures for securing, protecting, and maintaining service delivery equipment and devices.

5. The Cabinet approved a proposal by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to amend Article 6 of Law No. 9 of 2017 regulating schools, allowing children to enroll in kindergarten from the age of three instead of four.

6. The necessary measures to ratify a memorandum of understanding between the Government of Qatar and the Government of Nigeria for cooperation in combating illicit drug trafficking were taken.

7. Approval was given for:
   - A draft memorandum of understanding for sports cooperation between the Governments of Qatar and Romania.
   - A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in organizing mobile exhibitions between Qatar Museums and M+ Museum Limited in Hong Kong.

8. The Cabinet reviewed a report on the participation of Qatar's delegation, led by the Minister of Labor and Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, in the Fifth Government Forum to Combat Trafficking in Persons and made the appropriate decision.
