Qatar Assists in Evacuation Efforts from Gaza
On November 1, 2023, Reuters stated that Qatar played a mediating role in facilitating the evacuation of foreign passport holders and several critically injured individuals from Gaza, allowing them to depart through the Rafah border connecting Gaza and Egypt.
The mediation agreement was reached among Egypt, Israel, and Hamas, with coordination involving the U.S., as reported by Reuters based on information from a reliable source.
At the moment, there is no specified timeframe for how long the border will remain open for the evacuation process.
The reported deal is distinct and unrelated to any other negotiations involving the release of hostages held by Hamas or efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis, which includes shortages of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies.
Furthermore, reports indicate that Egypt has set up a field hospital in Sheikh Zuwayed, Sinai, and positioned ten ambulances at the Rafah border in preparation for the arriving evacuees.
