Qatar Airways Cargo boosts TechLift with VRR’s specialised semiconductor containers

Qatar Airways Cargo has added Van Riemsdijk Rotterdam’s (VRR) specialised RGX and RZY containers to its portfolio, strengthening its TechLift service for the secure transport of high-value and sensitive semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Purpose-built protection

Both container types are purpose-built to support the secure carriage of semiconductor fabrication machinery and other advanced capital equipment, and each is fitted with advanced climate-control systems and enhanced shock-absorption technology to guard against the temperature changes, vibration, and impact that can damage delicate machinery in transit:

RZY — 16-foot container — climate-controlled and shock-absorbing, sized for semiconductor fabrication machinery and related equipment.

RGX — 20-foot container — the larger of the two units, offering the same protection for bigger, high-value capital equipment.

Both models are fully certified for carriage on the main decks of Qatar Airways Cargo’s Boeing 777 freighters, providing additional specialised capacity for the complex logistics requirements of the semiconductor industry.

Behind TechLift

The containers form part of TechLift, Qatar Airways Cargo’s dedicated logistics solution for the technology and semiconductor sectors, which the carrier launched in early 2025 to target the fast-growing chip market. The product applies shock-absorption technology across ground and aircraft equipment when moving delicate semiconductor products — from integrated circuits, chipsets, and microchips to urgent manufacturing machinery, testing and capital equipment, and specialised chemicals.

Qatar Airways Cargo said that, through strategic partnerships with industry leaders, it continues to strengthen the TechLift offering to ensure critical semiconductor technologies are transported securely and delivered on time — playing a role in supporting the resilience and efficiency of the global semiconductor supply chain as demand for dependable logistics grows.
