Oman’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has announced the development of three megaprojects in the country’s Dhofar, Musandam, and South Al Batinah governorates.
The new megaprojects’ proposals were chosen from among the many submissions for a development project that can be implemented in one of the governorates.
The megaprojects were revealed at a meeting between the ministry’s officials and governors on Sunday in Muscat.
Here is all you need to know about the upcoming megaprojects in Oman:

This initiative aims to develop a comprehensive recreational destination that embraces Omani customs and traditions, catering to visitors from both within the country and abroad.
What it will include: The project will encompass a vacation retreat, a theme park, an aerial cableway, mobile food vendors, a shopping complex, and a parking facility.
The aim is to promote sustainable tourism and generate employment opportunities for individuals seeking jobs, while also supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.
What it will include: The project’s primary goals are to connect different areas within the Musandam Governorate and enhance the region’s infrastructure.
It also seeks to boost tourism, open up fresh avenues for investment, and contribute to the overall urban and social development and well-being of the governorate.
After the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning assesses and approves the top three winning proposals, the Ministry of Finance allocates financial resources for them.
The aim of this initiative is to motivate the regions to identify development projects that align with the National Strategy for Urban Development, which serves as a blueprint for urban expansion in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.
The strategy places importance on the progress of regions and the creation of sustainable cities, with a specific emphasis on promoting competition to generate fresh and innovative initiatives.
