The Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the issue (50) of Al Diplomacy Magazine. 

The new issue sheds light on green diplomacy and the role of Qatar in combating desertification and helping islanol nations suffering from climate change due to global warming.

The new issue features an interview with HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani, who underlined that climate change is one of the most important challenges facing countries around the world, indicating that the repercussions of this phenomenon go beyond the environmental aspect to have economic and social repercussions as well.

HE the Minister of Environment and Climate Change highlighted the most prominent challenges facing the region, which include water scarcity, desertification and the negative impact on coastalareas and marine life, noting that the GCC countries will face these challenges; in addition toanother challenge revolving around finding a balance between the requirements of economic development and environmental sustainability.

HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani underlined that Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy is one of the main pillars for achieving Qatar National Vision 2030, which is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the State of Qatar's ambition to reach a leadership position in the region through the implementation of many projects and initiatives that contribute to the efforts to reduce air pollutants and carbon dioxide emissions, and increase reliance on renewable energy sources.

His Excellency added that the coordination among the GCC countries, especially through the joint committees concerned in this regard, contributed to unifying the GCC positions in the climate change negotiations within the United Nations system, which in turn resulted in a numberof decisions that consider the interests of the GCC countries.

The magazine also made interviews with a number of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Qatar to a number of countries facing global warming, who confirmed that the State of Qatar is
working to neutralize carbon by using clean energy, and that the 2022 World Cup stadiums will operate with clean energy, to become the first-ever carbon neutral World Cup.
