Electric and hybrid vehicles exhibition organized by MoECC at katara

At the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) organized an exhibition featuring electric and hybrid vehicles yesterday.

The objective of the event is to promote the adoption of contemporary, environmentally friendly transportation methods aimed at preserving the environment through decreased carbon emissions. The exhibition offered the public a chance to familiarize themselves with the most recent electric and hybrid car models.

The gathering included electric and hybrid car owners who shared their experiences, discussing their vehicles' features and emphasizing the significance of such transportation methods in environmental preservation. Organized by the MoECC through the Green Development and Environmental Sustainability Department, the event collaborated with Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Thani, an expert in electric car technology and methods.

Sheikh Dr. Saud bin Khalifa Al Thani, Director of the Green Development and Environmental Sustainability Department at MoECC, emphasized the ministry's role in promoting the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles to safeguard the environment and minimize carbon footprints.

He expressed the ministry's ambition for electric cars to constitute 25% of Qatar's vehicle fleet. Sheikh Dr. Saud highlighted Qatar's efforts in expanding EV charging station infrastructure and preparing the necessary groundwork, underscoring the collaborative work of various state agencies through a committee where the Ministry plays a pivotal role as a partner.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Thani, a cybersecurity and electric car expert, highlighted the significant visitor turnout at the event. He mentioned, "We shared valuable insights about electric cars, top brands, and usage tips. Additionally, we offered effective solutions to common issues faced by electric car owners in Qatar."

He noted that the Qatari market still has limited availability of such cars but anticipated an increase in ownership, especially with the government's extensive efforts in establishing EV-charging stations across Doha.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasized the environmental benefits, cost-effectiveness, and long-distance coverage of these vehicles due to their low-cost charging. Advising potential buyers, he recommended opting for GCC specifications for compatibility with the Gulf countries' atmosphere.

Electric and hybrid cars represent pivotal advancements in modern transportation, significantly reducing carbon emissions and lessening reliance on fossil fuels. Their exceptional energy efficiency and lower operational expenses compared to traditional cars underscore their importance.

These vehicles are eco-friendly as they don't emit harmful carbon emissions, aligning with both local and global initiatives to combat climate change and preserve the environment.
