The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced the start of a comprehensive update to the registered commercial activities of existing companies, aligning them with the Unified Economic Guide for the Classification of Economic Activities adopted across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The initiative, which officially began on June 1, 2026, is designed to standardize classifications, improve data accuracy, and enhance transparency in Qatar’s business environment. Officials stressed that the update will not alter the nature of any company’s activity or affect its commercial registration.
The process is being rolled out in three phases:
- Phase One – From June 1, companies with a single activity corresponding directly to one classification were updated.
-
Phase Two – Will take place on June 15, covering companies with one activity corresponding to multiple classifications.
-
Phase Three – Scheduled for June 30, targeting companies with mixed commercial and industrial operations. Updates will be applied automatically under approved classifications.
The Ministry clarified that the updates are automatic and require no action from business owners, ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining continuity of operations.
