Qatar domestic workers
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, has set a maximum price for the recruitment of domestic workers from different countries.
The price ranges from QR9,000 for domestic workers from Kenya and Ethiopia to QR17,000 for workers from Indonesia.
The move is part of efforts to combat the unjustified rise in the costs of recruiting domestic workers, control the domestic labor market and deter monopolistic practices.
The price cap on the recruitment of domestic workers shall be set as follows:
Indonesia: QR 17,000; Sri Lanka: QR16,000; Philippines: QR15,000; Bangladesh: QR14,000; India: QR14,000; Kenya: QR9,000; and Ethiopia: QR9,000
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Labor urged all citizens and residents to report any abuses or violations committed by the recruitment offices of domestic workers or their failure to implement the decision to set a maximum price for the recruitment of domestic workers.
