21,000 grouper fishlings released into Qatari waters
The fisheries department of the Ministry of Municipality has released 21,000 grouper fishlings into the Qatari waters as part of a breeding programme to increase Qatar's fish stock.
The fishlings, each weighing around 52 grams, were artificially bred, hatched and reared through the early stages of growth at the Aquatic Fisheries Research Centre in Ras Matbhak, its head, Ibrahim Salman Al Mohannadi, said. Though this programme, 580,000 grouper fishlings and 701,000 stingray fishlings have been released into the sea so far.Â
