Ministry of Social Development & Family marks Family Day in Qatar

Ministry celebrates Family Day

The Ministry of Social Development and Family celebrated Family Day in Qatar, which falls on April 15, in the presence of Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF) HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani and Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.

The celebration, which was organised in the celebration square of Qatar Foundation, coincided with the celebration of Garangao, a traditional celebration and part of the authentic Qatari heritage, which falls on the night of half of Ramadan.

In a statement on the occasion, Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad stressed the ministry’s keenness to spread the culture, practice and skills of building happy, strong and cohesive families in Qatar by reviving the benefits of the system of societal values and traditions.

She added that this year’s celebration came under the slogan ‘Qatar is strong in the cohesion of its families’, which it launched through all media and social media platforms, and it is a multifaceted initiative, activities, events, lectures and awareness-raising workshops.

She emphasised that Qatar shows great interest in the family because it is the basic building block of society.

The minister said that the advancement of societies can only be achieved through the advancement of the family, which cannot be achieved through an individual or sectoral effort, but rather through the concerted efforts of all governmental and societal determination to support and care for it, protect its security, stability and cohesion, and ensure the sustainability of its strength as the nucleus of a stable society.

She said that celebrating this day reflects the priority and importance attached by the government to the family and the role of social institutions in supporting and developing construction and community growth in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the country’s national development strategy.

The minister appreciated the presence of Vice-Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation (QF) HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani at the ministry’s ceremony on the occasion of Family Day in Qatar.
