The Ministry of Public Health has announced that Cipriani Restaurant has been ordered closed for 30 days following violations of Law No. (08) of 1990 regulating human food control on July 05,2026. The closure, which took effect on June 14, 2026, comes amid investigations into suspected cases of food poisoning linked to the establishment.
The Ministry clarified that the decision was part of precautionary measures taken immediately after reports of illness were received. On June 17, officials confirmed they were investigating multiple complaints of suspected food poisoning and had moved swiftly to suspend operations at the restaurant pending further review.
Authorities emphasized that the closure reflects Qatar’s strict enforcement of food safety regulations and its commitment to protecting public health. The Ministry noted that food establishments are required to adhere to rigorous standards, and any violations that compromise consumer safety are met with decisive action.
The investigation into Cipriani Restaurant is ongoing, with inspectors conducting detailed assessments of food handling practices, hygiene standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Officials stressed that the closure period will allow for corrective measures to be implemented, ensuring that the restaurant meets all necessary health and safety standards before reopening.
Public health experts highlighted that such enforcement actions are critical to maintaining consumer confidence and safeguarding the wellbeing of residents and visitors. The Ministry reiterated its readiness to act swiftly in similar cases, underscoring that violations of food safety laws will not be tolerated.
The Cipriani case serves as a reminder of the importance of strict compliance with food control regulations and the Ministry’s proactive role in monitoring establishments to prevent risks to public health.
